Dear all...
My Megane is going into the dealer shortly to get 1 or
more of them changed under the (extended) warranty
but I was just wondering how easy it is to change them
yourself as I have heard some people carry a spare set
of 4 just in case, plus it seems they can be bought online
as a set for about £40 - might be a good idea...
For info the garage have said that the whole set might be
replaced if the man. numbers are in a certain range...
I'm guessing this means that Renault have fitted yet another
dodgy product to one of their cars !!

Ignition Coils - how easy to change ??
Moderators: q292u, Ray, AndyAdmin, Stranger
Even us women can change them, I have had to be shown how to change them because nearly each week they fail and I have no option but to do this myself in this happens on a remote road.
Renault UK are not interested in this problem, my advice is to carry 4 spare coils with you at all times - I buy mine from Ebay £50 for 4 including free delivery

cactusbob and wingking,
Thank you for your replies, even though I know my ext warranty
covers this and the AA can do a roadside repair if I get stuck miles
from home I think a spare set in the car is a good idea.
wingking, can you pm me details on who you buy your coils from,
do you knwo if they are the better Beru made version and not
the cheaper Sagem version that Renualt prefer ??
Thank you

Hello Absmegane
I have twice bought from Ebay from the same seller, one set was Sagem and one set was Beru
Quite frankly in my opinion my meggie has no preference as she goes through them whatever make quite quickly.
Good luck, I would hope that no other person has a meggie like mine, surely they could not have built two or three or four !!!!!!!!

Thank you wingking,
Sounds like you have been more than unlucky, my car has
just turned 3 years old and this is the first time that the coils
have seemed to have failed. A friend of mine who works
for a large Renualt Dealer as their Tech Expert says it sounds
like 1 or more that has failed.
Worth getting a spare set, just dropping the car at the garage
and picking it up takes a half day... crazy for a job that by all
accounts takes just minutes.
Thanks again
