So had another problem with our 2006 1.5 dci for months. Basically pull away after starting engine and the doors lock by themselves. Unable to open without using lock button on dash. Let it go hoping it would sort itself but mot looming and now have ' check door locks' and spanner symbol on dash so automatic mot fail.
However today found hopefully the fix somewhere online.
1. Insert key card.
2. Press start button till steering unlocks, feet off pedals.
3. Press lock button on dash until beep heard.
4. Start engine drive off. In our case prob sorted ( touch wood). Spanner symbol and check warning gone and doors not locking by themselves.
Not sure if this is a permanent cure, but hope it helps someone else.

Re: Check door locks problem and fix
The doors are supposed to lock themselves over 5mph it's one of those safety features. Pressing and holding the lock button turns the feature off. The spanner symbol means a service is required and the check door locks message is telling you one of the door locks has a fault.

Re: Check door locks problem and fix
Thanks for the reply. Never knew the car locks activated over 5 mph. Is that a child safety feature?
The 'check door locks' and spanner symbols have gone, so presume they were related to doors self locking. Car not due service yet, normally we get ' service due' sign on run up to it.
Someone said the other day how few mk'2s they see nowadays. I'm on the road all day and see very few, are they now a dieing breed?
