Balancing of wheels by special machine when wheels are in car, and a wheel can not be balance
Hi guys,
I have vibration problem in my Megane car.
1. I checked the wheels to check for minor movement in the wheels on both horizontal and vertical axis and there is not problem in this.
2. I went for Wheel Balancing.
Firstly Check all Rims out of Tyre and after make balance all of them,
then Make Balance for All wheels(Rims and Tyre) out of car with wheel balancing machine that rotate wheel and show some numbers for sure about Balance and added some plumbum to Rims...
3. After all 4 wheels balanced out of car with that balancing machine,
decided to make balance With a Different Balancing machine that balanced the wheels inside the machine itself for 2 front wheels when turning on the car and rotate wheels by car not by machine balancing...
The car was lifted to one side with a jack,
That Balancing Machine it placed near to the up side wheel,
And after turning on the car,
Pedal goes down and the speed went up with the gear shift in about 90 km/h with 2500 rpm.
The wheel near to passenger It was easily balanced in just 5 minute,
but the wheel near to driver, not balanced even after 40 minutes and too much effort!
What is your idea about this?
You think problem is about which part of suspension?
The Reason of all of this was I have vibrations in car when moving,
and I can feel it through the pedals and steering wheel this vibrations.
Thanks for your help.

if vibration not coming from wheels I would suspect engine mountings...after all the vibration has to be coming from a moving part....good luck

Re: Balancing of wheels by special machine when wheels are in car, and a wheel can not be balance
I have change this parts until now, to maybe resolve this problem!
*All 4 engine and gearbox mount
*All 4 tyres and all 4 brake disks
*all 2 Anti Roll Bar Link(Rod / Strut, stabiliser)
*Left + Right Inner & OuterTie Rod End
and with all of this, there is not any change in my vibration problem.
Now my doubts is about driveshaft right and left sides cv joint...
What is your idea about that?

the only thing you have not mentioned is the wheel bearings...obviously you have jacked car and tried to move wheel to see if there is any play in any joints, sorry cannot think of anything at the moment....unless the problem is at the rear of the car and vibration travelling through bodywork..where do you feel the vibes are coming from..

because this vibrations feel very much in floor side,
and feel in pedals and steering wheel,
so I think this vibrations is from front of car...
My doubt is for driveshaft or cv-joint or joint hub or joint bearing...

While the wheel is spinning using the on-car balancing machine, can you watch the driveshaft, cv, hubs etc. to see if you can see anything wobbling?
Is there any sign that the driveshaft could be bent slightly?

Unfortunately, I did not check this when doing this balance...
But I think was a little hard, check that in same time.
You think this vibrations is from which part of driveshaft?

Re: Balancing of wheels by special machine when wheels are in car, and a wheel can not be balance
My thinking was that as the diameter of the driveshafts and even CV joints is tiny compared to the diameter of a wheel, then there would need to be huge amount of imbalance or movement for it to feel anything like as bad as an unbalanced wheel.
If it was me, the next thing I'd do is to jack the front of the car up so both wheels are off the ground, and then watch the driveshafts very closely as someone else rotates the wheels by hand. I'd be looking for any kind of wobble on the shaft. Also, whilst under there I'd get hold of the driveshafts and see if I can feel any movement or play in them by pushing and pulling them in every direction I can.
Also, does the vibration change if you are accelerating or decelerating, or coasting at speed and take the car out of gear?
Or any change if you are cornering left or cornering right?

Re: Balancing of wheels by special machine when wheels are in car, and a wheel can not be balance
My car have 4 gear,
And Vibration is higher when gear is in 2 gear and 3 gear specially in end of that for go to higher gear...
but in low speed in range of 40-60 vibration is higher,
but there is this vibration in all speed anyway.
I not feel difference in cornering left or right,
and reason of that I think is problem of driveshaft is a little not very much.
in balancing test have done with 90 km/h in 2500 rpm,
that because one wheel was higher and other was in floor,
so I think real speed maybe was higher even 180 km/h!
so I think rotate wheel by hand will not could show problem,
and need higher speed...

Re: Balancing of wheels by special machine when wheels are in car, and a wheel can not be balance
sorry but i am having trouble understanding exactly what you say.....is the vibration there when you rev the car or does the vibration only show up when the car is moving. Also does the car sound normal is there a rumbling noise coming from car for instance

Re: Balancing of wheels by special machine when wheels are in car, and a wheel can not be balance
vibration there is not, when car not moving...
so vibration is when car moving...
in low speed in range of 40-60 km/h vibration is higher...
this vibration in driving, will be higher in end of change gear...
for example when car is in Downhill and Uphill,
and gear is in 2 and high rpm engine speed,
and want to go higher gear,
vibration is higher...
But i think reason of that is in time of change gear in high rpm,
engine have normal higher vibration,
and vibration of my problem will add to that,
so final vibration will be higher in feeling...
and about noise, I not feel high noise or sound,
but maybe I am habit with that, because I have this problem for long times!
now you understand my mean better?

Re: Balancing of wheels by special machine when wheels are in car, and a wheel can not be balance
Ok thanks for clarifying that....if vibration only happens when car is moving it has to be Transmission or further along the drive-chain..Wheels,Driveshafts or CV,s, If it was the ball joints they do not normally cause a vibration unless they have completely failed and are easily identified as the culprit....apart from that I am completely out of ideas and can only wish you luck with the problem

Thank you very much dear for your wish and your help...
I want to check driveshafts to know details info about to find any failure on that...
