Changing the headlamp main beam bulbs.

Hi, I've had my 1.5dCi 86 for 2 days. I've changed the dipped beam bulbs. My question is - how do you change the main beam bulbs? I've seen no mention. Presumably the whole headlamp assembly has to come out as it does for the indicator bulb. What of the sidelamp bulbs? Thanks.

Hi,
your best bet is to remove the bumper and headlights and change all the bulbs and check all connections and earth wires etc.
When l did mine l found a bulb not quite located properly and the earth wire burning out where it feeds both the headlamp and side light.
If you use good bulbs you should be well set for a long time.
It's worth doing for peace of mind.
Check out on you tube for guides, and check they all work before you put the front back on.

Is it a lot of hassle to do this on your own? Also, how big are the chances of screwing something up?

Hi,
it depends on if you're used to working on cars.
If you're a complete novice it's a no go, but if you usually service your own car etc, it's not too bad, give yourself a couple of hours on a nice day.
Watch the videos on you tube for removing the front bumper and lights, see what you think.
If you've just got a bulb gone and don't fancy the job, try Halfords, l believe they fit them for a small charge.
