megane 2 electric problems..
Hi everyone, decided to make a compilation post of all the electrical issues my car has at the moment as it saves making a few. If anyone has any input or advice then its very appreciated..
The windows:
Front driver side is sometimes tempermental and works in the opposite direction on the switch? Window will move about an inch at a time..then i have to release the button and press again for another inch of movement. Sometimes after a while of running the car it will work with the one touch.
Rear passenger window always works but again, in the opposite direction and an inch at a time. When using the total closure system, these windows dont respond at all, not up or down.
Is it likely the module like so many others? I'll try have a look at the electrical connections for any damage..
The panoramic sunroof:
Doesn't work at all, I've tried to reset it by turning the dial one way and holding the button 10 seconds, then the other way and 10 secs again but nothing..the motor i understand is at the rear of yhe car above the headlining, is it an awful job? Is there something else to try before replacing the motor for it?
The heater:
Its an AC car..works on settings 1,2,3.
Turns off when switched to 4???
All the problems have been like this since buying the car so i cant help any more with details. Sorry.
Finally, been advised that a lead is stuck on one of the sparkplugs..and needs replacing. Car cuts out when first turned on so have to keep accelerator on 1k+ revs for two minutes to warm up the engine. Sometimes feels like its running on 3 as well with lack of power. Any advice to remove and does these problems sound like what ive been told is true? Apparently it had good compression but i wouldnt know.
Thats all for now lol thanks for any help

Re: megane 2 electric problems..
Hi,
the windows will probably be the temic modules, it's worth a try at cleaning the contacts thoroughly. That means taking the temic apart to get to the little contacts and use fine wet and dry. lf that doesn't work ( and they can drive you nuts ) they may need replacing.
Don't know about the sunroof except to try the fuse first.
The heater motor will be the switch, it acts like a resistor and again may just be worn out.
Sounds like you need a new plug and coil, if you don't know which one, a code reader should tell you, or disconnect one at a time to find it.
lf you don't have a code reader, l would get one if you plan to fix stuff yourself.
Hope this helps and good luck.
ps l think you'll find most of this on you tube, plenty of tips on megane and scenic, mostly the same.
Bob.

Re: megane 2 electric problems..
Hi Bob
Thank you for the reply , I am awaiting delivery of a new engine bay fuse box , apparently the garage man tells me to try that 1st... Then if that don't sort some issues out I will need a new abs computer as he seems to think the abs computer drives the brakes
I will keep you updated as I go along
Melanie

Re: megane 2 electric problems..
Melanie, have you replied to the thread i started? Lol
Anyway guys yeah thanks for replying. Ill try clean the contacts up a little and check it all before replacing the modules...is the black module removable without takingthe regulator /window out? I'm not used to french cars at all.
There's half a broke sunroof switch surround in the glovebox so im guessing the previous owner hoped it was a switch and has probably already tried the fuse but ill have a look anyway thank you. Does it also have a relay? Really want this working for summer. I might take the headlning down a little at the back and see if i can manually operate the sunroof with an allen key..although i think the problem is electrical and not mechanical because of a lack of any noise or clicking at all.
The switch that i turn for the heaters to come on? Looks complicated to remove lol.
Oh about the starting issue etc..im going to change all plugs and leads at some point but having read around the forums, ive drawn the conclusion that as i have the vvt model and i sometimes hear a grind when first starting (i assumed that it was the oil taking a second to get around the engine), that i have a dephaser pulley thats on its way out probably..
A nightmare of problems but you cant turn down a running car with 6 month mot for £100 haha.
I'll get there eventually, I'm used to working on vauxhall motors so renault are something of a mystery to me.
Going to have to invest in a volt pen or something for this car lol
Cheers bob

Hi,
the temics do disconnect ok without removing the motors.( test well before putting the door card back on )
The roof has fuse F2E 20amp in glovebox and a relay in engine fuse box according to Haynes manual.
Good luck with it

Re: megane 2 electric problems..
Ho all ,
Just a quick update for you , so the electrical faults still continue , I was advised to change the fuse box ( body control module) next to the battery as I was told this was the definate problem.
So I purchase a new one , get it put in , get all excited and " NADA" all the issues are still there , I am getting so tired of paying money to these auto electricians to be told what to replace and when it get replaced it's clearly not the fault.
So onward we go yet another auto electrician is gonna take a look , I shall keep you all posted.
Melanie

Re: megane 2 electric problems..
Hi Melanie,
you've come onto another post that is similar to your problem., but what exactly is wrong with your electrics.
You've probably got your information mixed up, but the body electrics are controlled by the interior module, not the battery one.
Tell us what's up and maybe someone can help.
Bob.

Re: megane 2 electric problems..
Hi Bob
I have no idea why I keep ending up on another thread lol anyway.
Rear wiper not working
Break lights not working
Washer pump not working
Speedo not working
Heaters not working
Interior lights not working
Abs and break light illuminates , service and stop light also.
It's been to 3 auto electricians , 2 were baffled one said change the box in the engine bay ( next to the battery ) so got that done and still all the problems persist. What is the other control unit you speak of ? And is it the small fuse box in the glove boz or is it another part somewher
Thank you Bob
Melanie

Re: megane 2 electric problems..
Hi,
l take it that the brake pedal switch has been checked for the brakes etc, all these faults could be isolated faults.
The interior multiplex module is behind the glovebox, if you've seen auto electricians, they should have checked this out before now.
Find this module, check it's connected properly and give it a bang to see if anything alters.
lf it does, it's the contacts inside it, they can be repaired ( ebay )
Good luck

Re: megane 2 electric problems..
Thank you again Bob for your reply , not knowing anything about cars is why i come here for advice and the advice I get is brilliant !
It would appear the 3 auto electricians just want to make money , non have mentioned the module thingy in the car I didnt know it even existed .
Is the part in question easy to get at would you know , if so I will have a go at getting it out myself
Thank you
Melanie

Re: megane 2 electric problems..
Hi Melanie,
there's a video on you tube if you look up 'renault megane glove box removal'
it's in foreign language but gives you an idea of what you're up against, you'll see the module.
lf you look on the net there may be pictures on one of the forums, even on this one.
Look up 'megane glove box removal pictures' on google.
Otherwise, whoever looks at the car, ask them to check it out.
Hope this helps
Bob.
