Check for any obstructions, I once had a similar issue and it was something that was stuck in the tailgate lock area.

Ok here's a few things that have caused this in the past:

Spiders or other insect
Open window, even just a crack
Door, boot, bonnet not properly closed or not closing fully

My Laguna mkiii had an issue with the bonnet catch so I disconnected as I didn't think anyone would break into the bonnet !! On my Mrs old A3 they were prone to the battery's in the horn unit leaking and then it would go off as and when it wanted. Not sure if the Megane is the same set up.

Have you tried disarming the motion sensors to see if that helps?

Instructions here viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4817

For mine it is stop the engine, remove the card, listen for the click, replace the card, press the stop start button lots of times in a row (not too fast) until the indicators flash then get out of the car and lock, the bleeps will be different.
