Headlamp lens removal?..

Postby Parallel » Sun Jul 19, 2015 1:43 pm

Hi guys,

I have a Megane Mk2 2006 (facelift) and over time it appears to have accumulated a load of bugs inside the passenger side headlamp lens due to the rear bulb cap missing (I think that's how they get in, anyway).

It started with a giant daddy long legs that got in and has been in there for a few years now, but loads more flies etc are getting in and it's driving me a bit mad!

Is it possible to remove the actual lens from the headlamp unit or will I just have to replace the whole cluster? I've tried looking for weeks online but everything I can find just tells you how to remove the headlamp unit from the car, and nothing to do with the lens removal of the headlamp unit.

All help is appreciated.

Cheers!

you could get someone to open it, but that whould almost cost as a new unit.

and WHY you don't have a cap on the headlight assembly ?!

Might as well just get a unit I've been eying up on eBay then if that's the case!

I think it came off without me realising a few years back and only ever noticed it wasn't on when I went to change the bulb.

Not tried it yet but from what I've read you need to heat the unit in the oven if I remember correctly they advised 100c for 10 mins then pry pull the lens off there also may be screws to be removed.
