Headlights both not working. Fuses and bulbs ok???

Hi
Recently my n/s dipped beam was taking 1/2 a second longer to turn on than the o/s. Then it went altogether. The next trip 1 hour later and neither dipped bulbs worked so i had to drive on full beams.

So then i checked both bulbs and checked with a spare also but no joy. Got the fuse box out of engine bay and tested those also. The relay clicks but nothing happens. I also tried a different complete headlight but nothing.

Strangely when you leave full beams on within a few minutes the o/s dipped worked again.
What else could it be? Is there a relay that i can change? If so what one and where is it?

Car is a 2005 Mk2 1.9dci Convertible
