Megane CC problems
Tried to start my Megane CC 1.9 Dynamique (diesel) this morning and the starter motor failed to start the engine. Tried 5 or 6 times without success. While I was locking the car, I realised that the card key wasn't working anymore.
Tried again this afternoon, and now the card key is working but the starter doesn't work. Few clicking noises from the desk board and in a couple of occasions the wipers started moving very slowly (???). Not fault messages apart to a cryptic "consult the roof handbook" which appears once.
I hope that maybe it's just the car battery close to die, but the interior lights and high beams went on. I have the feeling it could be some electronic fault somewhere as yesterday the car was driving perfectly...
Any idea?

Re: Megane CC problems
The battery was so dead that wasn't even charging. Got to buy a new one on Saturday and I hope that should solve the issue. Still I have a bad feeling it could be also something else...

Had it been standing? It's unusual for a battery to just die if it's used regularly.
Is anything connected that could be draining it? Maybe an after market radio or similar

This is another worry. The car was driving perfectly until the evening before...No new stereo or other devises installed recently.

Changed battery, eventually. The key is not working or, let say the immobiliser is not working anymore. Any idea what should I do?

Re: Megane CC problems
Done that too, but not joy. The card is actually recognised (there is no "card not recognised" error message and the starter run normally. The engine doesn't fire up and the card key fail to lock and unlock the car. Many thanks for any suggestion...

Re: Megane CC problems
Tomorrow a technician will come to my house and reset the immobiliser and synchronise the card key by a laptop and the relevant Renault software. Hope for the best...

Re: Megane CC problems
Apparently it's the crank shaft sensor.
Resetting the immobiliser was so simple that it took a couple of minute with the dedicated device. Not other faults were found but apparently the crack shaft failure doesn't show on the software. The technician said the sensor failure is a rather common problem but it can be easily solved at a not great cost. We'll keep you updated...

Re: Megane CC problems
Eventually the problem has been sorted. Allegedly the fuel indicator wasn't very precise and I have run out of fuel without noticing. Being a diesel, it wasn't just a question of filling the tank. Apparently some additional work had to be done..
Anyway, final bill was £70.00 and the Megane CC is back on the road.

Back to square one
. Driving well for two days. On the morning of the third day, it started normally but it cut off immediately and the card key went crazy again. Back to the garage, I'm afraid...
