front bumper removal - help for others

Postby ibiker » Sun Apr 06, 2014 10:46 pm

I removed the bumper off my 2007 privilege, so if you need any please just ask. Had to do this since I could not remove the bulb after the contacts on the bulb broke and came loose giving me nothing to pull on to remove the bulb via the wheel arch.

Also found an unattached black tube. No electrical cables inside it, so it had me puzzled for a while. I think it might have been for headlight washers, but my car does not have these, and checking the tubing was unattached at both ends reassured me that it was not me who had accidentally yanked anything free!

The black tube is a battery exhaust
It takes the gasses created when charging out of the closed battery box so no build up of explosive gas

The gasses from the battery carry acid, which is very corrosive.

Question guys please:

The battery exhaust tube I'm sure was not connected to the battery - which is not the original to the car (replaced in december last year).

The battery I bought was an exide 096 premium. Should it be connected to battery directly? I could not see any place to connect it to?

Thanks in advance.
Ian
