What car is it?

If 1.9dci the main problem I had was the oil return pipe leading from the oil seperator bottle (where you add oil to top it up) to the engine. The pipe and the 'tubes' it connects to the bottle and engine to were both blocked. I had to use a wire coat hanger to clean these out.

The other breather pipes I am aware of run from the oil bottle towards the back of the engine. Just start from the botlle and work back as it is worth making sure these are all clear.

Is that the breather that goes over the top of of the engine to the turbo? I checked that last night and it didn't seem blocked, I checked the turbo, there was a slight smear of oil in the pipe not much though, I mean the main hose that goes over the face of the turbo, I tried to check the intercooler pipes but couldn't see any cracks in them, can they get clogged? Thanks for reply

No, in 1.9dci only the plastic assembly in which the dipstick goes needs cleaning, in particular the oil separator bottle. The rubber pipe attached to it with a valve in the middle should be inspected as well.
