rasping niose at around 1500-2000revs?

hi my meg 1.6vvt sometimes makes a strange noise when I get to 2000rpm at a standstill or moving(a rasping noise from engine), also when slowing down eg coasting it makes a rasping noise like duuur duur durr dur? lol at my explaination...mpg is 29-30! car feels jerky when applying my foot on accelerator or removing it..any ideas guys?thanks

ok...just disconnected the dephazer solenoid and all seems normal even a chirping noise I thought was the aux belt seems to have gone, apart from the service light and 'check injection' warning. I recently had a dephazer pulley replaced due to a first time non start and rattle. This is where all my problems started, is there a possibility that I have had a duff pulley fitted? or could the solenoid be the problem? thanks guys.
