I need a how to on replacing rotary switch / indicator unit

Problem with your Megane? Can't find an answer? Workshop manuals and technical notes are in here.

There was a really good video on youtube but it now showing up as a 'private' video.

It is pretty much straight forward though. I'll jot down a quick guide from memory:

1, make sure steering is dead centre and then disconnect the battery. Wait about 45 minutes before the next bit;
2, remove the cowling behind the steering (upper and lower) - 3 or 4 torx screws IIRC;
3, remove steering airbag. To do this, there is a hole are the rear of the steering towards the bottom. Stick a screwdriver in there to release the spring and then you should be able to remove the bag. Note the airbag slides up rather than pull it off. Remove the 2 airbag connectors (remembering which way round they go) and put the airbag aside;
4, remove any connections from the steering wheel (noting what goes where);
5, remove the steering wheel (IIRC a T50 torx screw) - ideally, the screw should be replaced and not re-used. Keep a note of how the wires were routed;
6, there's a torx screw on the top right of the rotary switch that holds the switch in place on the column. Undo this enough to slide the rotary switch off (quite a bit). This may need some persuasion but I would remove the screw first if it still seems stuck on;
7, disconnect any connectors, remove the unit;
8, replacement is reverse of removal.

Make sure the new clock spring is properly centred though before fitting otherwise, one full turn and the cable will snap.
