Postby weldore » Mon Sep 09, 2013 4:36 pm

its a megane estate 53 plate with the 270mm discs on the back.

its failed the mot on the rear discs so ive ordered new ones but upon removing the calipers from the hubs the bolts that go into the hubs were like chocolate.

where can I buy them from ?

sorry if its in the wrong place or been asked a million times :-)

cheers..dave.

Hello Dave, bin there, dun that! Your Renault spares dept will be able to supply these but they are not kept in stock and will need to be ordered. Take smelling salts for when you learn the price! Having picked myself up off the floor I popped into the workshop and enquired if any spare bolts were available. A kind mechanic took me over to a box of odds and ends. I sorted through and found bolts of the same thread and length. No charge so some good things come out of Monsewer Renaults garages!
The original bolts have torx heads, E18 as far as I can recall. I don't mean to be insulting but did you use an E18 socket to try to remove them? An ordinary socket will just round the edges off. They are extremely tight and thread-locked too and rusty after almost 10 years. I expected to be able to supply the bolts from my own junk box but these ones have a very fine thread, not the normal metric size, something I have rarely seen before (and then on a PUG 205 rear suspension.)
Hope this helps. The best of luck....mate!
Mike

Isn't it m10x1 grade 12.9?

Careful with ebay. Bolts grade 8.8 and below take only half of the torque or worse. Note that grade 8.8 is often advertised as high tensile, which doesn't make it suitable for the application.

See, e.g. this (after checking the dimensions of your bolt):
