My megane dci won't start???

Postby mrphil » Fri Sep 06, 2013 1:30 pm

Hi all

1.9 dci megane, 53 plate, 118,500 miles.

Keep it short as I can.

Drove around short amount if time on red, put derv in, on way home aggressively overtook a car doing 30 on a dual carriageway, on the carriage way, beep, stop, injection fault, limp mode.

Stopped car and restarted, was off, was driving home fine, decided to rev it hard in the car park to see if any smoke etc etc same again beep, stop, injection fault, limp mode.

Parked car up, went to go back out hour later and car will not start just turns over and over.
Neighbour come out with a draper expert code reader, linked it and no dtcs found, still won't start.

Now driving around in ka unsure what to do...

Any suggestions? No obvious wetness around the injectors...

Should I get my breakdown out?

Thanks

Hi. You did put Diesel in it not Petrol!

Did this fault start after you filled up! If it did that's why I asked the above question.

Get some Injector Cleaning and add it to the Tank which will help to clean the system.

I can't believe it, I did! I put 11 litres in! What an idiot!
I had the receipt in my pocket! I can't even remember going to sainsburys!

I've found the fuel pump sender under the seats so I'm going to cup everything out, take filter off and empty and blow lines, then put diesel in filter and put 20 litres in the tank, failing it won't start will have to tow it in 4th and get it going!

Worse case ive done 6 miles, but filter should have had about £1 so maybe 4 or 5 miles!

No wonder no codes come up!

Idiot!

HI. I am sorry I got it right, but it is easily do. you can not do it the other way around as the Diesel Nozzle is bigger than the Petrol one.

Don't forget to change your Oil in the Engine as well as Petrol fins it out!

Plus of cause clean out all the lines and Tank etc.

Best of luck.

That's fine it was a hetic day!
Can't even remember fueling up or even going by sainsburys!

There we go a expensive lesson learned.
Where is the fuel filter on these and I've heard there like a paper filter? How do I prime except for towing down the road in 4th.... I'm used to the metal filters which you can pour some diesel in and that's enough to get it going and the rest gets sucked through..

Haven't looked yet, stripped back seat last night and took plate off the top for access but I was sandwiched between two cars and give up!

Sounded like when I pulled up yesterday it was the pulley clunking again? Maybe just the pump or something struggling... Hopefully once drained and lines blew back and filter emptied and a new lot in and a nice easy run it will be fine and no lasting damage!

Thanks alot for your advice!

All sorted!
Drained fuel using a pump from under rear seats,
Soaked everything up with tissue, blew lines through and then as the fuel filter was a tit to get to I took the pipes off the fuel pump and primed until dry!

£35 worth of diesel, primed, thought sod it and sucked it through the pipe that goes in to the fuel pump and primed at same time, started first flick with some smoke, stop injection a few times but now fine!

Gotta get crank pulley re sorted now!

Thanks

Hi. That great, just keep any ear on Engine noise just in case. If it gets loader there could be something wrong that was caused by the petrol!

Did you change the Engine Oil and filter, if you haven't I would just in case especially as you Car has done a lot of miles.

All the best 460316DSG1
