gear linkage removal 2003 megane 1.4

HI,

I am wondering how the gear linkage can be replaced on a 1.4 megane 2,

The gears have become very stiff most notably in 1st, 3rd and 5th which is making the car an absolute pain to drive, However it still goes into gear which leads me to believe its not a more serious gearbox fault,

I think it happened following a block gear change from 4th to 1st whilst stationary at traffic lights, as when i set off I found it more difficult to get the gears,

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Try oiling the cables first as this normaly works but you still need to remove the battery and tray to gain access
