Starting Problem

Postby Boyneburn » Fri Oct 19, 2012 9:56 pm

I am having an intermittent starting problem with my Megane 2.When I insert Keycard & press start buttons sometimes it starts & other times engine turns over but does not fire.I remove Keycard & reinsert it & press start button & it starts.I took it to the Renault Dealer 2 days ago to get checked out. When I returned to collect it I was told it needed new glow plugs & was charged £145 .However the fault is still there & I am still having the same problem.I returned to the dealer to complain that they had made a wrong diagnosis & I was told that it is difficult to diagnose when the engine is warm!!! So I stiill have the fault & £145 out of pocket.

Hi,

Not sure if this helps but may be battery in the card? If like mine, you dont actually need the card to start it, inserting the cards charges it.

Also, I had 4 new glow plugs fitted last week for £50 (they are £8 to buy and are easy to fit yourself, i didnt know this at the time) they can check glow plugs by plugging a reader into them so I would demand a refund if I was you!

The battery in the Keycard is not charged by putting it in the reader, i'm afraid that is false info someone has given you,all it does is read the card.
