We've got a 2008 1.5dci with 65,000 on the clock. It's developed a starting problem, sometimes it fires after 2-3 cranks, but then it'll go back to cranking again before it fires properly.
But now, after 20-30 mins of being switched off, when I try and start the engine again, it'll start but it SHAKES violently as if only 2 or 3 cylinders are firing!!
This then settles after 2 or 3 seconds and then runs fine!! There are no warning lights on the dash.
Please help, it's my wife's car!

Re: Megane II 1.5dci starting problems
Check your glow plugs buddy, and also check your fuel line for air bubbles.
The fuel line you need to check is the one from the hand priming bulb to the fuel filter.

Re: Megane II 1.5dci starting problems
Hi Treddy,
Are you using a genuine RENAULT filter?
Aftermarket ones dont seem to have an airtight seal and allow air back in...
Maybe your pipes have a hole in, or your non return valve is stuck open.
