Dropped Keycard - No Longer Detected

So when grabbing something out of my pocket the keycard came out with it and fell on the floor (not a great height) and ever since whne i put it in the car and press start it comes up keycard not detected on the dash.
Is this coincidence with me dropping it OR has me dropping it caused this?
Is there a cheap fix rather than shelling out for a new keycard?
