High clutch

Postby sharna86 » Thu Jul 19, 2012 1:29 pm

Hi

I have just brought an 05 megane 1.4 expression. I love the car but the clutch bite point is soo high. I know this is normal or so it seems but there is also a clicking noise when I turn my wheel. Is this related? I have also been told that I can bleed the clutch as its hydrolic. Has anyone done this and does it make the clutch lower? I feel like I'm learning to drive again the amount of times I'm stalling! Also if I am starting on a hill I need to set the bit a d really rev before I take handbrake off other wise it either stalls or rolls back. Help!!

You can bleed it. There is a bleed nipple near the slave/clutch bell housing. Bleeding is done by gravity. Wash away any bled fluids as they attack paint. The fluid is shared with the brakes, so pay close attention to the level in the master cylinder.

The clicking sound from the steering is likely owing to a failing clockspring mechanism. The two are not related so far as I know. And this is a whole different kettle of fish.

Best advice for Megane owners: sell it before it bankrupts you!
