Update:
Battery fully charged, starter motor checked and working fine.

He also got all the bottom larger fuses out and checked for contamination, nothing found.

The dealer is collecting the car tomorrow, I am not confident that they will be able to fix this issue.

I spoke to Renault today they quoted me £45 for diag check and said that whatever they fault was it wouldn't cost me more than £200, how can they know this!!!

Pretty cheesed off not having my car this week, was just saying the other day how happy I have been driving it, (handles well, goes well, fuel consumption pretty good and enjoy getting flashed on the way to work by two other Megane owners).
Didn't see this one coming though :-(

One other point, the central display that shows the car, door openings and tyres has never worked properly.
It only shows the rear left and front right tyres. Only door open that shows is the front left.
I guess this would have no bearing on my fault as it's been like this for 3 months, but thought I'd mention it.

Also the air bag light came on a few times after the garage tried to fix the height adjust on the drivers seat, (still broken).
I'm told the light coming is common after mooching around under the seats.

if this does have a bearing on the fault I'd be interested as I am starting to consider a discussion with the dealer on a buy back.
This is based on the fact I have had three issues with the car since buying it and only clocked up 2,500 miles since purchase.

In fact I have spent money on it by changing the oil, pollen and fuel filters and just fitting 2 new tyres.

You seem to be staring into an abyss. There are so many problems cropping up here, that I can only suggest you reject the car if from a dealership. Put simply, the aggregated costs of solving all these problems might take you a lifetime. Save yourself the time and expense. I hate saying that. I don't know the law surrounding re-cooping costs, but it would be worth investigating.

I may just do this based on the following:
Engine cover broken since purchase.
Rear left tyre gets worn quickly, just changed them and already wearing, suspect suspension?
ABS light comes on now and again.
height adjust on seat doesn't work.
2 Strut mounting kits have been needed since purchase.
2nd key does not work.
central GUI does not work correctly.
car wont start = electronic fault.

Regards,

Kieron.

MY CAR IS NOW FIXED I'M TOLD, COLLECT IT TOMORROW!

They tell me it was a broken wire behind the UPC module that had rubbed against plastic, I'm gobsmacked as I checked all looms and could find no damge. When I get it back tomorrow I'll have a look and post more information.

The main thing is it's fixed :-)

Pleased for you. Now (and I'm not being facetious) hopefully all will be well before any warranties run out. Please report back any further adventures!

Well after thinking it was the fuse box it ended up being the Injector Computer. Renault want to charge me £757.45 for finding the fault and replacing with a new one. Cannot belive the cost. Its like half the price of the car!!

You mean, they took the price of the car, found a part which is approximately half of that and invoiced you? It makes sense if the customer has no means of driving away.

Are you sure they will not charge you for the UPC later on?

Seriously, how exactly did the diagnose the ECU?

No idea. Smiths (Renault dealership) of Peterborough just said that the car will not turn over due to the injection computer not working. Informed me that it took 1.5hours to find the fault. Did phone around a few different places to see if I could get the part elsewhere cheaper including trying on eBay and can't get hold of one as it a Renault part only and no one else makes them. Crafty biatchs!! Part number 8200321263

Said once fitted they can check everything is working but as of yet cannot get the thing working.

marc_bucks,

I am afraid you are in the process of being ripped off. It does not take 1.5 hours to check if the ECU is communicating or not. Of course the network is down, as indicated by the two beeps. Do you know that it, actually, takes power from UPC? Did you see in the manual that the radiator fan is controlled by UPC? Did you write: "the car has lost power and cut out and is struggling to start when its been raining" and "Yep hatch is missing"? Do you know that the ECU is made by Bosch, used in several European cars and is known to be highly reliable? It is all highly suspicious.

I don't think it was a good idea to employ the dealers before attempting to replace UPC. I hope I am wrong...

i have exactly the same problems & have been thro it as you have, mine was water from the top as skuttle drains had blocked. I had water inside aswell. If i could get to the starter ? whats the easiest route? i was going to jump to the solenoid to see if it starts. Will a s/h board if its the same need programming?

Re: Car Won't Start - wet ech

I have dried my ech out & cleaned all plugs but although when starter pressed things click & work (lights.c.locking,wipers etc) engine doesnt turn over! I had water in the footwells do you think inside ech could have got wet? main ecu all looked dry + they have sealed plug in connectors.

UCH does not control the starter, unless you are confusing it with UPC. By the way, have you checked the large fuse on the battery terminal? The other thing is to make sure your car is not immobilised, which is a function of UCH.
