Hi, how easy is it to fit a new Alternator? think mines completley had it, making lots of noise as if bearings in alternator gone. :?

Might not be the bearing, might be the pulley rubbing against the housing. I had the same problem with my 1.5dci 80 (2004).
I removed the aux belt, unbolted the alternator (bit fiddly to get your hands in), then lifted it up through the bonnet. It is a bit tight to get it out but it will come out of the top. There is just enough clearance.

ok ta, had to buy a refurb alternator, fitted now but still having problems. connections on live side of battery seem to be "breaking down". any help gratefully received
