Mot advisory - slight play in steering rack?

48000 isnt a huge mileage either is it. I,m starting to get nervous now with all this talk of replacement steering parts, i can see my bank balance slowly ebbing away! I also had a 1997 megane classic saloon and had very little wrong with it. Usual stuff like exhaust, battery, front pads etc nothing serious so yes, i was really pleased with that.

Fingers crossed this will be as good but its starting to look as though i may be in for a bumpy ride!

Just want to say thanks to everyone who gave advise on this thread. I decided to give it a go today and it wasnt as bad as I thought. I managed to get some stilsons onto the dome section of the rod and use a bit of scaffold bar as a pry bar and both sides came off real easy. I did notice there was no thread lock on the ones I taken off?

Anyway's, all done now but found out my driver side to mount strut is clicking with the steering, so just ordered a repair kit off ebay for £29!!!
