Help card reader not picking up card

Good evening

I was wondering if anyone could help me please?
My card will unlock the doors but it wont start the car. When i use to open the car it would say insert card but now im not getting any lights on the dashboard.

Hi Mike

not sure if you have solved this now but if it is the same issue I had the induction coil in the card has broken solder joints.

in the interim i removed the console and had the card reader 'dangling out' so I could squeeze the card when it was in the reader, squeeze the right side where the emergency key goes and you may be lucky.

there is a repair for this on the forum but it is tricky and I managed to b*gger the coil with the scalpel opening up the key card - had to get a spare off ebay to salvage the coil and now all works

you don't mention a 2nd/spare card so i'm guessing you have the one only?

however, if both of your keys don't work then it may not be the key/coil issue
