Replacement shockers - would 225/230's fit?

Hi all, I have a 2003 1.4 Dynamique with very soft and worn shockers. I need to change them but I would also like to upgrade while doing so. (on a budget though, so no coilovers!!)
First option is to change with standard replacement shocks and maybe fit an uprated spring kit, but my question really is...

Is it physically possible to fit just the struts and springs from a breaking 225 or 230? I have read on here that the Renaultsport struts maybe thicker – does anyone know for sure?
