Although this might seem rather odd...i get a small whining noise which gets louder and quieter depending on revs....mostly on idle.
If i start with clutch in....it whines....if i start car with Brake pedal no whine.... its almost as if its slightly rubbing the pressure plate when disengaged (minor friction). And goes away when your in gear and moving....and hense when it heats up no noise will be made at any stage.
Possibly same issue i dont know but thought it was worthy info to add....

Re: WHINNING NOISE
Hi,
Check that all the belts are tensioned correctly.
A mate of mine had a the same problem after his 100000 KM service, to resolve the issue, we removed the cambelt and refitted a different brand, the brand fitted to the car was one supplied by renault we replaced it with a power grip belt.
Poped everything back together and the noise was gone. I am assuming that the belt was not tensioned correctly to start off with. Niether of us want to test that theory by putting the old belt back though.
Cheers
Grant
