Clutch has started slipping but pedal also feels odd!

Hi,

This is going to be a tricky one to explain;

The car;

06 megane 1.9 dci 130 currently with 56k genuine miles on the clock owned by me all its life apart from 1st year.

The problem;

Noticed today that the clutch pedal felt odd so did the usual and repositioned the floor mat. Drove for a bit still thinking that pedal feels odd and then noticed and felt a click about 3/4 of the clutch travel return. Then went on to notice the ''click'' a further 6/7 times in no particular order but more often than not when pulling away in 1st and more importantly the clutch is now slipping under hard acceleration in 3rd upwards. The pedal feels as if it is not reaching its correct rest position but if i hook my foot under the pedal cant seem to raise it any great deal?

The slipping problem seems to have happened all of a sudden as has the clutch pedal not feeling right.

I think it may be something to do with the clutch pedal mechinism as cant understand why it would suddenly start randomly ''catching'' on its return. I know from when the car was normal all i had to do was gently tap the clutch to cause slip ....any ideas?

Hi,

Just to update...problem now solved... turned out to be a broken spring within the clutch pedal mechinism!

If anyone has a similar problem feel free to contact me and i will try to explain further.

Hi,

Stuck my head into footwell and pressed clutch pedal a few times to work out spring had dis-lodged its self from housing. I then removed spring and could see the reason it dislodged its self was due to break in spring. i bodged what i had and repositioned spring to fix problem... if or when it breaks again i will replace
