For the past few weeks, my Megane 1.4 dynamique has been very temperamental on starting!
I start up and it just dies on me, after about 3 attempts I start to get impatient and pile the revs on to keep it going. After holding it at about 2.5k revs for 10 seconds or so, I gradually lift my foot off the throttle until I no longer have my foot touching the pedal.
However, when I remove my foot, the car struggles a bit under 1k revs but then settles back up to a normal idle. The annoying part is however, sometimes it starts brilliantly, revs up to about 1.5k and then settles at 1 - perfect! Others it struggles but then corrects itself but most frequently it dies on me.
I am really starting to get annoyed with this problem now, I have no idea what it could be, I have heard things about spraying fuel injection intake & carb cleaner into the throttle body, a faulty TDC and a temperature sensor.
Any knowledge and experience is greatly appreciated!
Cheers
Tom

Re: Engine Embarrassment!
I had similar issues though rather than holding the throttle for x amount of time i used to rev it to pull away and soon as i moved off it was fine - cleaning the throttle body sorted the problem for me.

Re: Engine Embarrassment!
Thanks mate, I'll give this a try.
What engine do you have?
It looks a massive pain to get access to the throttle body on the 1.4
