Central locking and key card - mind of it's own.

Problem with your Megane? Can't find an answer? Workshop manuals and technical notes are in here.

Central locking and key card - mind of it's own.

Postby Oddball » Sat May 07, 2011 12:09 pm

Hi all

I've a 54 plate megane dymanique vvti 16. Yesterday the car started randomly locking and unlocking the central locking on it's own very quickly when ever the engine is switched off. Both keycards are now intermittently unresponsive often locking me out of the card.

A couple of days previously one of the keycard was accidentally washed in the washing machine but when dried and a replacement battery added was fine. The problem persists even if I remove both batteries from both keycards.

A few suggestions on google seem to think replacing the actual car battery might resolve the problem but I thought I ought to check before opening my wallet.

Why do I think this is going to cost me a fortune.

Thanks in advance.

mine does this occaisionally. you might find it only happens in certain weather condtions. eitherway it only happens when you're near the car. it probably won't do it next time

Thanks Ray. It's been very humid in Newcastle recently. Might be something to do with that. Thanks for your help.
