Front panels

Postby Orange225 » Tue Feb 04, 2014 11:19 pm

Hi All,
The two panels I'm talking about are either side of the Renault logo on the front of the car. On my car they are black plastic grids, quite robust and about 1 centimetre deep, perhaps a bit more.
Does anyone know how to remove these panels?
I am hoping that I may get a penknife around the edge to locate any lugs, but am fearful of breaking them.
Or, can I get to them from the top, by removing the plastic panel in the front of the engine bay?
If anyone knows, please let me know.
Thanks :-)

Well, I tried the plastic panel in front of the engine bay. No chance. It revealed a metal panel with all sorts of bolts connected to God knows what.
So, the only way is from the front. Maybe you know someone who might know what's going on behind these panels?
I went to Renault, and their computer diagram was really of no help. He didn't have any further suggestions.
So, I'm stuck.
Please, can anybody help??? :banghead

Can you put a photo of the pannels, I think they just pull out from the bottom but im not 100% sure to what your reference is to. :-)

Actually, your little picture that accompanies your post, shows them very nicely. Each side of the Renault logo, and between it and the light clusters. Very prominently displayed on your picture.

Great, thanks for that. The only problem is that that panel is not from a Renaultsport Megane, which may of course, have different lugs. I already know it has two lugs on top and three on the bottom, with the possibility that there are more on the sides that protrude from the vehicle rather than the panel.
The problem is more to do with, HOW do I get them out, without breaking the lugs. The gap between the panel and the painted metalwork is small. Even with a penknife there is a risk of scratching the metalwork. Does anyone happen to know whether it's a "push-in" movement on the lug or otherwise?
Thanks.

Ah, thanks freelander, your second link which I didn't notice first time, may have the answer. I'll give it a look when I stand a chance of not being blown into the English Channel. Thanks again :)
