My RenaultSport Megane

Postby Alex_225 » Sun Oct 03, 2010 4:06 pm

Well this is my Megane 225, I bought this in early 2006 and could never bring myself to sell it. I'm a bit of a detailing geek so I tend to keep it as mint as I posslby can.

Anyway here's some pics.

After ordering this and waiting almost 3 months for it, I picked up my 2010 RenaultSport Twingo Gordini a couple of months ago. Number 110 of 200.

It was these that held up the delivery of my Gordini. Blue inserts in the wheels rather than black. Ever since seeing the initial press shots of the Gordini it had to be the blue to match the Malta blue paintwork.

And finally, my Twingos brother my girlriends Glaciet White RenaultSport Twingo 133.

Thank you for the comments guys, glad you appreciate it. A few people don't see the point in me keeping my Megane the way it is but I love the car. I would love to have it in 15-20 years time as the best example of it's kind. Like when you see a retro Renault now, like a mint 5 GTT or Clio Williams.

Matty_225 - the inner arches are standard mate, I'm not sure if it's something they changed on the spec at some point though. Knowing Renault it could be just a spec change, they tend to do that from year to year.

As for cleaning gear, I could bore you to death with the different stuff I use haha. But on the Megane use pretty much all Dodo Juice products -

Dodo Juice Born to be Mild shampoo
Dodo Juice Need for Speed or Lime Prime Lite polish
Dodo Juice Orange Crush or Supernatural wax
Dodo Juice Red Mist spray sealant (to top up the protection after each wash)

That usually does the trick on the Megane although there's a few other brands I tend to use for other things like the plastics etc.

On the Twingo I haven't needed to polish as the paint was pretty much un-swirled when I picked it up. Having said that if I were to polish I'd go for some Autoglym Super Resin as by hand it's awesome, virtually non abrasive but fills swirls and leaves a great finish. Plus you can buy it in Halfords so easy to get hold of.

Wax wise I like to use something I know lasts ages so usually Collinite 476 or Finishkare 1000P, they're no frills waxes that lasts up to 6 months per application. :rock Having said that I've got numerous waxes but those two are spot on.

Otherwise I just use a few other products, Sonus, Meguiars, Chemical Guys etc. There's no definitive brand or product to use really. Also it's easy to become a snob and ignore more obvious brands but there's good and bad in all really.

Hope I haven't bored you to sleep yet haha.

Good plan there mate, when the bloody weather gives you the chance.

I'm waiting for my a week off coming up soon and I'll roll the Megane out for a winter prep before it hibernates. Doesn't need a wax or polish but will give it a once over, Red Mist sealant, treat interior plastics etc. Also want to fill the tank to the brim so there's no room for condensation. All fun.

The Twingo will probably get washed weekly and topped up with Red Mist after each wash though. I'm itching to polish and re-wax the missus Twingo though so let's hope for dry weather on my week off haha.

WOW!!!!! your megane looks super nice. When changing your CD player, are you still able to
use your controls behind your steering wheel and does the display ontop by your dash still work
with the CD player?
