Re: airbag ecu part no.
Check with the garage whether they were unable to connect to the ECU or the ECU reported an error. In the former case it can be a network problem...
Ask a dealer to quote the price and check the part number. Pretend that you want to buy from them.

Re: airbag ecu part no.
I just tried Google, it worked. Remove spaces from the part number. The range of prices is crazy. The cheapest was a second hand unit on a Russian web site, about £30, but it might be a pain to deal with them. There was a European price of about £250.

Hi AlexB
at first when garage scan for default code, it shows error is from the rear airbags (i believe they sit near seatbelt) but garage tested both airbag and wiring. all seem working condition. he reckons something wrong with the airbag ECU and needs to be replaced.
i saw few 2nd hand ECU on ebay but they have different part no. even for same mk2 225. i'm not sure if they will work on my car.

Why don't you look at the diagnostic trouble codes DTC first? There is a code that says directly that the ECU is faulty, but the other codes are open to interpretation...

Hi AlexB
the code is DF239 from renault. the guy said they have checked 4 wiring unit and seems they are working properly. I assume they have checked all plugs / relay etc in case they are loose.
they reckon the ECU is broken so generate wrong code.
I want to attach the whatspp image here but not sure how

Re: airbag ecu part no.
I remember renault also mention they did check the wiring 19-20, 41-42. I google them, they refers to rear seat belt inertia reel.
Re: airbag ecu part no.
my local garage checked my car yesterday. he reckon it's the seatbelt tensioner. he didn't test the ecu tho.
I did think renault may just want $$ and ask customer to change parts. both guys just follow the code from the computer. hard to say who is right
I try to find out how much is the seatbelt tensioner. I hope I dun need to replace whole seatbelt unit.

Have you read the workshop manual about this code? It's in our sticky thread, file MR366MEGANE8.pdf, pages 1204-1205, 1282-1283.
When they checked the connections of ECU connector (tracks 19, 20, 41 and 42), were they good or bad?

Re: airbag ecu part no.
Renault said tracks 19, 20, 41 and 42 were good. He agrees to swap the rear seatbelt next week and see if ECU generate different code. Hopefully it's the tensioner failure. it costs ard 95 pounds. cheaper than the ecu 195 pounds.
somehow I couldn't find the sticky thread in this forum though but in other site, they also mention seatbelt tensioner should be most suspect or loose socket.

Yep, the sticky is just above this thread. It had the word "manuals" in the title.
Never mind, not all people are readers, some of us are writers and even professors...
Well, if the wires and sensors on the far end are good, then the problem is on the near end... Still, make sure the sensors were checked well, then look at the connectors, then the ECU... These ECUs are pretty reliable and the connectors are not. Look at the connectors!
Isn't it possible to somehow bridge the connector to trick the ECU? The rear seats in a 2 door car are not used anyway.

Re: airbag ecu part no.
I just checked the car in Renault again. Told them to swap the rear airbag to both side. Now they say the issue is related to the loose connector of rear right airbag which is hidden on the roof. The guy said since the connector is loose, best to replace the wires but didn't give me the part number. If anyone knows, I be appreciated. I try to look for second hand ones from eBay anyway. Renault really waste so much time.
