Hi,

Has anybody ever heard of/used Showroom Shine by Greased Lightning?

I ordered my very first bottle from Greased Ligthning yesterday and was wondering what to expect. After seeing demonstrations of it removing tar and dried on enamel paint I was wondering whether it would be one of those gimmics that looks good on the TV but in reality is a load of rubbish.

For those of you who are not familiar with the product the idea is you spray the cleaner onto the car - clean or filthy dirty (supposidly no pre-washing needed for real grim caped cars), then simply wipe and polish off with a micro fibre cloth. The demonstration on Ideal World showed 2 identical cars being cleaned, one with Showroom Shine and the other with conventional bucket and sponge. The Showroom Shine took approx 8 minutes to clean the whole car. I am a bit sceptical about using this on a real dirty car without a prewash but it says all you do is spray, wipe and its done, also leaving a protective wax on the paint work. Each bottle is 1litre, around £20 a bottle, and can supposidly wash 12-15 average sized family cars (assuming that the Astra is classed as an average size family car, should work out cheaper than car wash or jet wash!)

Anyway, the product is ordered, hopefully be here by the end of the week, will definately have some before and after images to show of the car to get peoples verdicts. For those of you who want to read more, click the following link:

Look forward to your comments, and obviously most important of all, I look forward to giving this product a try.... verdict to come hopefully this side of christmas!

Hello, i was bought some by wife recently, and like you was sceptical at first ! But after having used it twice, i think it does a good job. It is a bit more involved than the demo on Ideal World shows, but its easier than a bucket/sponge/chamois in this cold weather ! :-)

PS My Scenic is a metallic black as well !!

How does it cope with grit getting into microfibre cloth then being rubbed across paint work?

well..... showroom shine arrived yesterday... am at work at the moment but will try it out this afternoon when i get home. the car has not been washed for 2 weeks so is covered in grime, and all sorts of crap so hopefully it does a good job without the need for bucket and water.

will post some pictures up on Monday morning of before and afters.

If you do a search on fleabay for proshine you can get a huge 132fl oz for £50 that will last me the year out.
works out cheaper than buying the 32fl oz bottles at around £15 although I have bought 2 for £20 before again off fleabay

well..... i am extremely impressed with the results of the showroom shine. the car looks amazing. i cannot see another way to possibly get a car looking so clean (especially balck), without spending an absolute fortune on a professional valet. the whole "wash" took me about 30mins to do, probably because it was the first time i had used the stuff. results were just amazing, almost as though i had spend hours washing and polishing.

i took some before and after photos which i will upload at some point today! going to do the girlfriends KA this weekend, is in desperate need of a clean but is noway as bad as the Astra was.

photos to follow.....!!!!!

Good Question !! It does not scratch the paint, just seems to lift the dirt off, and then you polish to a shine, sounds strange, but it does work !! :-)

toosh, i can understand your point there. well, i will probably not be doing on the astra everytime i wash it cause it would work out expensive, about £20 a bottle and i rekon will clean approx 8-10 family size cars (meganes/astras etc depending on how dirty the car is).

i have promised the girlfriend that i will clean her KA at the weekend so will take some photos before, during and after the clean.

I have some of that at my house, i tried it and i wasnt fussed on it, i get better results from using a Sponge and Soap, plus the shine i get after waxing makes the car look brand new,

washed my car the other day, then got a phone call from my mate asking me to give him lift to Vauxhall so he could pick up his corsa, he took me down a road covered in Horse/Cow/Pig Manure, coveres the whole car, i wasnt a happy bunny :banghead
