im thinking of buying a megane 225 5 door in burnt orange.really like the look and safety/performance.everyone i ask tells me to steer clear of renaults.just need some do's and donts.what to look for and stuff.thanks.

Hi Jay. Save some extra pennies and get yourself a 230 F1. A completely different beast from the 225: much tidier and progressive handling; limited slip diff etc.. 100% sweet machine. However, it's still a Renault and not a Honda, so expect some 'character'. ( The clutch master cylinder went in mine after 100 miles from new...

And what's the difference in price between 225 RS and 320 F1 in the UK?

Actually minimal differences, but if you after 2nd hand make sure it's a facelift model on an 06 plate onwards. A lot of the niggles are fixed, and the handling is vastly improved compared to the phase 1

You can get a R26 for £16000-£17000 from a friendly dealer :-)
