Going to buy my 1st megane

Hiya all.
I have been a Renault owner all my life including the following cars
1986 Renault 21 2 LITRE
1989 Renault 21 Turbo
1995 Renault laguna airflow
1996 Renault Laguna Sport (LPG Conversion)
2000 Renault Clio 1.4s
And now the clio is getting a bit tired with 127k on the clock so i have been thinking about a Megane 2.
Now im not sure on what model to get but im thinking a 1.6 petrol maybe.
What sort of things do i have to look for when buying one of these?
Would i be better of going for a different engine??
Your help will be most appreciated.
PS i have about 2K to spend and looking at something with about 60k on the clock..
