My wife's 05 Megane 1.6 16v suffered the start up clatter when the engine was hot, for some time. Apart from the start up rattle, there was no further unusual noises.
4/5 weeks ago we had the 18,000 mile oil service, and hey presto the start up clatter has gone, completely.
Well pleased, perhaps we should change the oil more frequently, last 18000 took about 2 years.
