should i? should'nt i?

Postby sutty86 » Tue Nov 03, 2009 7:59 pm

Hello there,
sorry to be a pain in the backside, but ive been intrested in buying a megane for a few years now, and now im this close ive researched quite abit into it,
and found some right horror stories online i.e electrics, fuel pumps etc,
i know all cars arnt perfect,
so i would like to get some megane owners to let me know the real story....

im buying a megane for £3200 on 03 plate with 13,000 miles p/x my mondeo(far too big) its a 1.5dci 80 version,
really nice and tidy inside and out, took it for a drive and it did impress me, to say the 80bhp is quite low it still moved for a diesel,
is that price a good price?

also what should i be looking out for? should i check anything before i hand over the cash...

thanks for your time

and hopefully be able to contribute to this forum abit more once i buy

Garry

Wow, 13,000 miles!? That's fantastic.
I paid £3,500 for my '03 2.0 VVT in February so sounds good!
Check every single electrical item works (windows are most common to fail)
Apart from that, any serious faults will show up on the dashboard.
Ottoman Blue 2.0 VVT Privilège 5 Door - Full beige leather, ESP, Xenon headlights, Carminat Navigation, Cruise etc.
Ink Blue 2.0 VVT Dynamique 3 Door... Black Leather, heated seats, panoramic sunroof, tyre pressure sensors, Hands Free etc.

Good advice above plus it's important to check for water ingress, inspect the floor throughout especially the floor pockets, ingress often comes from around the door speakers or the bulkhead.
