I'm thinking about buying a Megane Convertible

Postby metallicastar » Thu Apr 09, 2009 1:28 pm

Hello there, I am new to the forum. Would like some advice please. I am thinking about buying an 54 reg Megane Convertible, but the seller is saying the phaser pulley will need replacing in a few months time. Can anyone tell me what a phaser pulley is (I think also the timing belt will need replacing). It sounds expensive is it something to do with the roof? Would really appreciate some advice. :shock:Any advice in fact would be greatly appreciated in other words if anyone has one of these cars how have you found it to be? I am a girl, but a quick learner! :)

Its the dephaser pully, and the timing belt will need to be replaced, and may aswell replace the water pump...mine just done by Renault garage and cost £640, so haggle with price of car. Goodluck although mine has cost me a bit in the first couple of months, still love it.

Just to say thank you very much to you two for the replies which were very useful. Glad I asked before I bought the car; I still love the look of the convertible and it is handy having the 4 seats as well.
