Hi Folks
I've just joined the site.
I'm living in France and at the moment I have an old Safrane. It's done over 328,000 km and I think I'm ready for a change.
I'd like to get a Megane Sports Tourer, either here in France or buy in the UK and re-register.
I've a couple of questions I'm hoping someone here can answer.
First, if I buy in the UK are the headlights adjustable right to left or will I have to replace them?
Secondly, what is the overall opinion of the Sports Tourer?
and what are the pros and cons of the diesel 86 and 105 bhp engines?
Hope someone can help.
Kind regards
Mike

Re: Megane Sport Tourer
Hi Mike,
Sorry, I don't know about the headlights.
I'm very happy with my tourer. The space (520l under the luggage cover) is great, and there are some nice touches (eg retractable window blinds on rear door windows, electronic child door/window locks, auto wipers). I chose the dCi106 as sometimes I have it full (and a roofbox), and it still goes fine (although not so good economy when full to the brim!) When I had a longer cross-country commute I averaged 58mpg over 2 years. Some people on the forum have been dissapointed with the economy after having a dCi80 or dCi86 version before. The dCi106 comes with 6-speed gearbox, 86 with 5-speed.

Re: Megane Sport Tourer
Thanks for your reply Gav.
I've just put a deposit on a Feb 2007 1.5 106 with panoramic roof and 42k on the clock that I spotted on e-bay.
We're travelling over to Devon to pick it up next week.
Any tips on any common faults I should be looking out for?
Cheers
Mike

Window regulators (when electric windows go down of their own accord) are common across the whole Megane range and Renault may contribute when a repair is outside of warranty. On the dCi106 I had a small fuel return pipe leak that is a known issue (smell diesel once stopped, noticable worse consumption) also fixed while my car was under warranty, but may be covered outside as it's a known issue. They seem to be more reliable than the petrol versions, and DON'T have a particulate filter that can clog up if not regenerated.
Best wishes with your new Megane!
