Postby guy1988 » Mon Mar 23, 2009 12:25 pm

Hi there i have a 05 plate megane DCI just wondered if the 225 bumpers are just a straight swap with the original ones?
or do things have to be changed?

Thanks alot Guy

They're a straight swap, you'll just need to add some wheel arch liner extension pieces to fill the gaps at the lower ends of the bumper and the liners.

Actually I couldn't find them as separate parts on the Dialogys parts programme as they seem to come supplied with the 225 bumper. But if you get a bumper that's missing them, they shouldn't be too hard to cut from a suitable flexible plastic. Here's a picture of an original extension piece, it's the part held with two black pop rivets:

just another heads up, if you get a second hand front bumper which doesnt have the Splash guard from underneath, you cant buy this seperate from renault, you can only get it with the bumper pack inc grills etc, although you dont need it.
Fogs from standard bumper fit to.

ive got another question relating to fitting 225 bumpers to non sport cars,

does the rear section of the 225 exhaust fit the standard section of the 1.4's 1.6's and so on ?

Also are the correct mounting's in place to do a swap with the exhuast system aswell ?

The backbox from a standard 225 can be made to fit the 1.4 1.6 system although it will need welding on, any exhaust place should be capable of doing it for next to nothing.

You will need to buy some exhausts mounts from renault for the backbox as the standard (non sport models) do not have exhaust mounts near the tail pipes of the sport model, now you might decide not to bother with these but your exhaust wont sit right (lob sidded), and will probs sit on the bumper and damage the paint work.

R55VYS already made the points there, also you might want to check this topic on the German Mégane forum:
https://meganeboard.de/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=7073

1st, 2nd and 4th pictures show you the RHS exhaust mount which is made up of three different part numbers:
-Mount 1: 82 00 309 166
-Mount 2: 82 00 035 448
-Screw: 77 03 602 246

The parts aren't exactly cheap so, if one had access to proper tools, one could fabricate a simpler mount using thick flat steel bar bent or welded to shape, and then bolt a universal exhaust rubber insulator to it to allow for vibration.

And as the original RS system has a pipe diameter of 60mm (IIRC) and the 1.4/1.6 is only 50mm (again IIRC), you'll also need a reducer pipe as shown in the pictures.

lol just realised this section of the forum exists  made a thread about facelifting a megane 1.9DCI to look like a 225 complete with twin pipes on the back.

Just a few quick questions really:

where would I find 225 bumpers to buy? I've seen 1 or 2 on ebay but just the back bumper. Should I be looking to purchase directly from renault?
what additional part(s) am I going to have to purchase to make all the bumpers fit (if any)
how much will an entire face lift cost? (bumpers, head/rear lights, exhaust system)
any points I should consider before attempting this? (I don't actually own a megane yet. Looking to purchase in the very near future so doing abit of homework before hand)

on more of a side note, any idea how much it would cost for a full body respray. Done abit of research, some say just under a grand others say several grand...I know thats more off topic but I thought I'd have a try anyhow

thats my 1001 questions over. cheers! :D
