i think the megane arches are wide enough to swallow the 19's..
even once saw a bloke who fitted 20's..!!
there's someone here who had 19's and still he lowered it 45mm..

Use a tyre calculator to work out what size/profile tyres to fit. Here's one from Rochford Tyres:

Of course physically you CAN put the 19s on without any suspension mods, but after doing that you'll probably soon want to desperately lower your car, though. Will look well "funky" if you don't.... :D

Wheels (or tyres) will not touch the arches provided you have chosen the wheel offset and tyre size wisely. Can you tell us what offset your wheels have? And maybe the wheel width, too, in inches? The offset number is usually cast behind the spokes somewhere and reads usually "ET" followed by two digits. What are those two digits?

Deciding whether a wheel fits a car requires some three-dimensional spatial thinking where there are several varying factors to consider: tyre width linked with tyre sidewall profile which together form the overall outer diameter of the tyre, wheel width and wheel offset. So it's never just a simple matter of "Will 20s or 19s fit my car?"

I've some 19-inchers on my lowered 5-door Mégane II, see here.

From my own personal experience I can recommend the tyre size 225/35R19. It's outer diameter is nigh-on identical with the factory original tyre size so your speedo reading won't b affected.

As for the wheel offset, anything from 45mm to 35mm will be fine and you'll have no rubbing, at least provided you go with the 225/35R19.
