Folding Mirrors

I was wondering if any one knows if its possible to have electrically folding wing mirrors fitted for when u lock the car???

you can.. but it involved modding the wiring.. and adding a component... search the forum.. it's somewhere!

if you could find the live pulse wire from the alarm (which triggers locks, lights etc) then place a feed from this to the bottom contact on the switch (the one you rotate to fold the mirrors) and this will fold the mirrors automatically when you lock the car but it wont unfold them - thats a simple way of doing it

Wouldnt even ask renault as they will charge you thru the roof - search yellow pages for an auto electrician and they will probably be quite cheap

I doubt renault would... but if you know an auto electrician, they probably would.

just a note to all owners that are thinking of doing this modification, i burned my mirror switch out trying to get this working using the link at this site

i am good with electrics and had trouble building the curcuit, this in turn burned the switch out that controls the mirrors and had to get a new one from renault at a cost of £18.

so proceed with caution.

if you have managed to get this working i managed to get a wire from the accessory wire that runs from the back of the radio that turns on when the ignition is on (this would have made the mirrors fold when car off and open when car ignition on)
i routed the wire through the drivers side rubber grommet and through the door wiring connector and up into the door.

if anyone has a good wiring diagram or have done this mod successfully then please post the how to mod on this site for all to see with pictures if possible.
