How Low Can I Go on a 1.9dci megane?

Hi All. Not sure if this has been covered on the forums. I recently bought a megane 1.9dci dynamique and want to make some suttle mods.
1. What are the best springs to use?
2. What is the lowest i can drop without causeing problems to the car,.. i dont think 35mm will be enough as i would like the arches to sit just above the wheels (17s)
3. would it help to upgrade the alloys to 18s?
Any suggestions welcome!

I didnt /wouldnt go lower than -45mm..you'd be getting into uneven tyre wear and shock issues ..
If you have the right size tyres on it should look fine.but 18's will always look better.
I used Spax..cheap and a good name...cant ask for anymore than that....and the ride is good too..

if you can afford it go for a decent set of coilovers. budget at least 5-600 for a good set. failing that try and get hold of bilstein shocks and eibech springs

If you want to go lower than 45mm you'll have to get coilovers, and i think the only set cost over £800 and are only -75 at back and -60 at front, alot of money for the sake of an extra 30mm max. although they do look sweet slammed

In that case why not consider pneumatic suspension?
Much more practical and the cost ought to be similar.

Go for 18's and put 225x40's on. It will be ever so slighty smaller diameter so will cause no rub.

pneumatic = air system
rather than oil etc in the suspension legs - it uses airbags which can operate to lower car and raise at flick of a switch - good as at car shows can slam it right to the floor and also good for speed bumps as can raise it up so looks like a 4x4

If you still want a bit of comfort dont cross the clearance of a standard megane RS

Mmmmmmm!!
My current car (non Megane) is lowered 50mm on 18" rims and can go up and down most slopes ok, speedbumps and roads I don't know require more concentration and less speed. Any uneven dip in the road would rip my front end off, however I took the splitter off which has given some more clearance, and no problems. Just remember when you're low, don't park so close to raised curbs

1) Ebach or koni Coils / springs
2) On coils -80mm on springs - 45/60
3) yea but even 18s can look small in the arches.
