The Mégane II Owners' Club

I've been looking at buying alloys for my 05 plate megane dynamique? what offset do they require?

Also what pcd?

- pcd 4x100 mm (non-RS, non-2.0 dCi which have 5x108)

- offset about 30-45 mm

Originally the cars (non-RS) had an offset of either (IIRC) 36 mm or 49 mm.

AFAIK the bigger 49 mm offset wheels are associated with the wider 205 mm tyre (16" or 17") whereas the smaller 36 mm offset wheel comes with the 195/65R15 tyre???

Factory 15-inch wheels are ET45, 16-inch (and 17?) wheels are ET49. Atleast the steelies. I think that the Megane I wheels are in the 36mm range?

Although the Megane II will look much better with a smaller offset to fill up those deep, massive arches. The Germans are using 20mm spacers in the front and 25mm in the rear (per side) with the original 17-inch wheels.

You're absolutely right, the 36 mm offset is from the Megane I! Sorry, my bad....

Just had a look in the official Megane II workshop manual and this is what it says about standard wheels and tyres:

- wheels 6.5J15, 6.5J16 or 6.5J17
- tyres 195/65R15, 205/55R16 or 205/50R17
- wheel offset:
steel wheels 45 mm
alloy wheels 49 mm

However, at least my 16" steelies and 17" alloys both are ET49 as tsniemi suggests, not ET45 and ET49 like they should be according to the manual.
The manual somewhat innaccurately seems to make the assumption that all 15" wheels are always steelies, and 16" and 17" always alloys. Based on that assumption, the offsets in the manual are of course correct, but I'd say tsniemi got it right saying that 15" is ET45 and 16"/17" are ET49 regardless whether they're steel or alloy.
