need the front lower

Postby craigyt » Sun Aug 04, 2013 2:28 pm

Hi guys, got a 1.5dci estate, and fitted some jom coilovers as they promised upto 100mm lowering! The back is fantastic, still another 15mm to go but the fronts are fully down but needs another 40mm atleast! Are there any tricks or owt to get it lower, like what the vag boys do using different topmounts or anything like that?

Thanks
Craig

Heres a pic of what i mean

From one tourer owner to another your car looks sound, good choice of wheels! Only thing i know of is to remove helper springs on front. Joms do have them for other car brands but you will need to check if these have them, I dont see why not :-)

Theres no helpers in these, im goin to get some custom springs made to bring the fronts down another 60mm but will enable me to run helpers for mot time!!

But thanks mate, needs a real good machine polish n a few other bits to make it acceptable!!

The problem is the front arch sits higher up than the rear thats why it looks a bit odd and big arch gap still. It looks like it dropped equally as the floor is level.
Put a pic up when you get new front springs as i might look into getting a set.

It has dropped it a mega amount but the tyre profile on the 17s doesnt show it! Going from a 205 55 16 to a 205 40 17 there is a 4cm loss in tyres size!!!

theyre goin for shortening tomorrow hopefully!

70mm dont sound that low its not even 3" but when parked next to a standard one it feels alot lower.

Thats the drop you want leave it like that.

You cutting coils off the springs for the extra lowness.

Looks sweet! Would love to be that low but unfortunatly the 7 hills of Sheffield say otherwise. I dont think you'd have a problem if you have a bump as long as the coilovers are declared on insurance, if the front springs are modified whos gonna know, do the insurers have a guide to every aftermarket suspension upgrade? I'm guessing you'll be driving careful anyway! :D

woah woah woah go steady!!!! i know the ins and outs of it all, its without springs so i can block my rallye in at night, the springs arent being chopped, they are being squashed by a coilspring company so its all legal, i will just have to run helpers so it will pass come mot time!

That is the ideal ride height but the undercarriage is about an inch off the floor and scrapes the floor turning into my level-ish driveway!!!
