EGR Blanking

Postby Koreanbaz » Sat Apr 21, 2012 8:33 pm

I've tried the search to no avail.

Can it be blanked off?

My mate has doen his VW Transporter, but I know that the Trafic can't be.

But there is a man selling blanking plates on ebay, So has anyone done it?

Any silly lights or running issue?

Cheers

If you blank off the EGR on a turbo diesel on a Renault, you will kill it most likely. The least you will expect is all manner of fault codes and lights going off. Why would you want to do it?

Red 03 plate 5dr 1.9 Dynamique dci120

Best advice for Megane owners: sell it before it bankrupts you!

Because the EGR Valve is the devils own work and doesn't actually aid the running of the car, it just aids emissions checks.

But I will look into it futher as suggested.

I've done this, actually made a huge difference. Been done for about 10,000 miles.
Installed a new turbo and decatted at the same time, car is far more free revving and endless power throughout the range.

I left the EGR in and had the pipe between the manifolds removed and welded up. I think it was magnesium weld on the intake manifold because of it being aluminium cast.
Anyhoo, car is driving better than ever, no fault codes and a nice turbo woosh when changing gear from the decat.

So to all those intrigued, yes it works perfectly.
