1.5 dci 106 bhp remap

Postby Gazwould » Tue Feb 28, 2012 10:01 pm

Just done, only other mod is a K&N panel air filter.

Had a choice from the tuner of either an Eco remap, extra 25bhp so (131 bhp) and 40 NM or a Performance version with 140 bhp and an extra 50 NM of torque.

Since mpg is the main requirement, the Eco was selected.

The boost and fueling was increased much lower in the rev range, the philosophy being you select a higher gear earlier thus saving fuel.

Driving, you could feel it boosting earlier and harder, a 2nd gear hill is now easily despacthed in 3rd.

Drivability is effortless around town, as to the mpg, Ill report back at a later date.

I'm also interested in this.

I haven't been able to work out if the 106 is a completel reworked unit (and therefore can be tuned without any detrimental effect) or if tuning it will put extra strain on it if its a reworked 86 bhp unit in which case its already 20bhp more....

The 106 is a totally different lump from the 86. I've had mine tuned to 130bhp and 300+Nm over a year ago. Not a problem in sight.

Now then - I don't have the invoice to hand so I can't help you with that. I can look it up tomorrow, but basically it was a freelance guy that had a franchise with a bigger company. Their claim to fame is that they record your original map for safekeeping and then someone 'at the headquarters' customises the new map for your car. It takes about an hour and costs a couple of hundred quid - when you haggle. My map is economy for the first half of the throttle position then performance for the second half. Somewhere on here I posted the results of several experiments - the 0-60 time was massively improved and I got something in the range of 80mpg on the second test.

DO NOT buy a 'tuning chip' as a substitute. In my opinion, well you get what you pay for, is that they are crap.

I came across the invoice by accident today, but didn't make a note of it. I think that Steve from https://www.angeltuning.co.uk/engine-rem ... uning.aspx

is the man to talk to - but I will definitely look up the invoice tomorrow and post it. He travels the country modifying many cars, and is very good. He also gives a 'discount' - I paid very much less than the advertised price.

Also. I checked the map using CLIP and it was as advertised.

If I forget by noon - PM or email me.

The guy is called Steve and he knows his onions. His prices seem steep, but negotiate a discount i.e. half the advertised price. Just don't tell him I said that!

hi i have a 1.5 dci 86 bhp, im guessing renault has just put a lower bhp mapping on it? if that was the case then would that mean my car would be able to be 106 bhp?

i would then guess that i would then be able to get 20- 30 bhp more then that making it around the 126- 136 area?

cheers

Check with the guy I quoted. He will be able to give figures. I think the 86 can be brought up to 100 or so. The engines are very different.
