Renault Megane 225 Replica, ph.1

Postby iRenault » Mon Feb 13, 2012 10:36 am

Hey there.
I own Renault Megane 2004, ph.1 (engine is 1.5 dci).
I'd like to modify my exterior to the Renault Megane RS 225 look (ph.1).
This includes front bumper, rear bumper and exhaust.

Front bumper:

Rear bumper:

I have few questions:
- if I buy front and rear bumper, will I be able to put them on my car or will I have to modify or buy some other parts as well? (ph.1)
- will the 225 exhaust system (with rear back box or only slip on if I can find one) fit to the original exhaust system? Or any modifications needed?

- some or any links to the needed parts are welcome :)

Thanks for the informations and answers in advance :)

I wouldn't recomend those ones on eBay..

First off they're fiberglass reinforced.. Nothing overly 'wrong' with that.. But that's why they"'re so cheap!

Seconly.. If you just get the bumpers you won't be getting half of the pieces you actually need to complete the mod!

For the front.. You need the bumper.. 2 top grills, 1 lower grill, 1 undertray, and 2 arch filler pieces (to ensure a decent fit to the excisiting panels!). Also if you don't have headlight washers.. You need the little blanks otherwise it'll be holy!

For the back you need the bumper and grills

I'd recomend buying these from new @ renaultpartsdirect.co.uk
If you ask you'll be entitled to 10% off for being a member of the forum!

You'll need to order the following bits:

Front bumper kit -
https://www.renaultpartsdirect.co.uk/ind ... t&Itemid=1

Front Undertray with arch fillers. (unfortunately although you get the undertray in the kit above.. You don't et the arch fillers by themselves and buying this tray is the only way (I believe) to get your hands on them! -
https://www.renaultpartsdirect.co.uk/ind ... ct_id=1954

Rear Bumper -
https://www.renaultpartsdirect.co.uk/ind ... t&Itemid=1

Rear Bumper Grills. -
https://www.renaultpartsdirect.co.uk/ind ... t&Itemid=1

You can obviously try scouting eBay for bits but they're hard to come by in good nick!

Exhaust wise...
You just need the backbox and tails.. Get someone to weld it on and bosh!

There is a set on eBay at the moment!
Item#.   220950508746

These are available again thought from new.. But a bit of a waste if you only want the tails!

Hope this helps!

As to fitting.. There's loads of show me/tell me's on here.. Just have a hunt!

This is really helpful and just what I need.
Now I'm step closer to finish my replica; thank you Sir!

Edit: Hmm... This would in total cost me about 908£ (1100€) with the shipping (without respray/assembling).
Go me :hm :ohno:

Your most welcome!
It is a huge expense!

But... You can do what I did..

I went to a special Renault breakers near me and got the rear bumper and grilles plus exhaust for £200 cash
And I'm just going to buy the front kit as I'll never get all the parts I need otherwise!

I'm getting the spraying done by a local bloke in return for doing him a simple website

Fitting is easy as peas just get a mate to help you out offering the bumpers up!

:)
Unfortunately I don't have such a luck, as 225 RS parts by themselves are really hard to get.
Respraying I think won't be such a problem (or cost); the mayor deal is to get those 900£ and getting all the parts unbroken ;)

Thanks for the heads up! :D

It is expensive, but I really really want the replica, so I believe those 1k £ won't be that hard to get :)

Questions:
1. I have 5 door model car; do all parts (speaking of front/rear bumper) from 3 door model match my car? :)

2. This question is quite stupid, but anyway: There are two models of Megane 225 (ph. 1, ph. 2) - I know the bunper differences, just: What's difference between Megane 225 and R26? (R26 is ph.1 or ph. 2?)

Thanks in advance :)

Same here, its difficult to insure the real deal and making it a replica just makes the car more attractive for what I feel is a reasonable cost!

I believe the bumpers do fit whether it's 3 or 5 door, wouldn't make commercial sense for Renault to have 2 different sizes.

True :)

Anyway; another question:
For the day lights my Megane has H7 bulbs, right?
What about parking bulbs and bright (long?) ones?
I'll change my stock bulbs to xenon-look bulbs (as xenon kits are illegal; except original ones which I don't have money for).
I was thinking:
Day-lights: Osram NightBreaker Plus H7
Parking lights: either Philips BlueVision or Osram Cool Blue Intense.
Bright (long) lights: Osram NightBreaker Plus H7 (if they match)
Fog lights: Osram All Season

I can take the picture of current park/bright bulbs so you guys can tell me which one are those :)
Thanks.

I just need to buy correct bulbs now :)
Thanks!

Ps. As taking bulbs out/in is really hard at Megane I firstly ask here if anyone knows so I can go and buy them right away :)
Thanks.

Maybe I'll get my hands on this one.

Just, are you sure it will fit my 2004 Megane, 1.5dci? As there it says it won't - but it should ;)

Cheers

Dont buy a original 225 petrol back box!

I did and I noticed a bit of lag and not enough grunt! So I took the back box out and got a custom one suitable for diesels but still kept the original 225 tailpipes
and only cost me £180. Sound and performance improved alot!
