DCi 120 big brake discs

Postby markrnorton » Thu Oct 20, 2011 8:36 am

New here, and had a search but cant find anything on larger brake discs.

I have a DCi 120 and want to fit larger discs than the 280mm ones that are already on it. I do however want to retain the 4 stud wheel bolt pattern. I dont want to do a 5 bolt conversion.

Are there any larger 4 bolt discs available or from another Renault model that would fit ? Say around 300-320mm in disc size.

Can anyone help or has somebody already done this somewhere ?

thanks

Mark

Not that i'm aware, but why do you want bigger discs? That means bigger calipers, bigger pads and more expense when they need changing.
Black Diamond discs and EBC redstuff pads... Cant go wrong!

I already have bigger calipers and pads, just need the discs.

Track days demand more of your brakes, I like to stop. I dont see expense coming into the equation on braking. Its too important.

bmw e30 disks are 4 by 100 stud pattern as well , you might be able to get yourself a set easily

looked at the bmw e30 discs, cant get them big enough. I think i have now found a contender though. 305mm dia with correct disc offset.
they just need a bit of machining. watch this space !!

The calipers are from an MG SV, large 4 pot Brembo's, about 280mm in length . they will need an adaptor bracket made, thats easy.

Well i reckon the disks from a fiat coupe turbo will fit with some machining to the centrebore. 59mm to 61mm. the offset is about correct and you can get a 305mm diameter. stud patten is still 4 but pcd is only 98, so they may fit without re-drilling of the stud holes. will have to check this.

So far the car is how i bought it two weeks ago, so i was told it has been remapped and i discovered yesterday it has a custom exhaust with no rear box.

I will take it down to a R/R near me to get the remap checked out. I have further mods i will do next year. Checked the wheel clearance yesterday for the bigger calipers, will need to change them as they may just touch the wheel spokes. So I'll probably sell the 18"'s it has now for another set

Ordered all the disks now, front and rear.

Will show progress on fitting the fiat disks next week with the big brembo calipers
