Wheel Replacement

I have a 53 plate 1.4 Dynamique with the 16" alloys. They're currently fitted with 205/55 tyres which according to the handbook are over-sized for this model. I am currently looking for a set of replacement wheels in either 16" or 17". According to a wheel fitment site I visited, the correct offset is 35-45. On searching this forum I have seen offsets of 36-49 mentioned.
Can anyone enlighten me and maybe suggest a good looking wheel for this model or a reliable source of alloy wheels.
